Today I am talking about moments. Your life is filled with so many of them, but sometimes you really have to stop and remind yourself to take it all in. You could be thinking about when the next bill is due, the stress you have over an event coming up, or the millions of other things that are constantly running through your mind. Stop, take a minute, and breathe. Look at what is around you and appreciate it. Is it nice outside? Take a walk. Enjoy the moment before it’s gone.
Raising a child can sometimes be perceived as an extra stress added to your life, but you can actually find so much inner peace in the process. You look at that precious face and see the absence of worries or anxiety. You see them just happy to be with you and to play. The innocence of a child can be the perfect reminder to take a break and see the world through their eyes for a bit. It can actually be pretty therapeutic! 🙂
Just watching Lana enjoy when we go outside or take a walk makes me so happy. Everything is so new to her, and it really makes me think about how much I can take for granted. We spend so much of our lives searching for happiness when we can easily find happiness in these little moments every single day. For all of you One Tree Hill fans out there, one of my favorite quotes from the show is: “Happiness is not a destination. It is a mood. It is not permanent. It comes and goes, and if people thought that way then maybe people would find happiness more often.”
Look at those little teeth and those curls! Lana keeps growing and changing. There are so many moments when I just stop everything I am doing, and I sit on the rug with her and talk to her and play. It melts my heart when I see how happy she is just to have me focus all of my attention on her. I think to myself, “How lucky am I to be able to be a part of this? I need to enjoy every single moment.” For all of you comic/superhero lovers out there, you can get Lana’s Batman shirt for your little one here. She also has the Super Girl one!
In the end, it is all really about those candid, family moments when you are all together. Some of my favorite times are when we all just got home, we are about to watch a movie together, and everyone is just being silly. Our cat, Mila, has been getting her exercise thanks to Lana’s increasing ability to move around on her own. I think she secretly loves it, though. 😉
So enjoy all those special moments, everyone! The week is halfway over!
